Site Diversity

Barefoot Mining is a champion for diversity in the Bitcoin mining network. We have made it part of our mission to drive our company, and the industry, toward a path that spreads the network hashing power to all corners of the earth using a wide-range of power sources. Ultimately, this diversity is crucial to developing the strength Bitcoin needs to play a major role in the world’s financial systems.

While we certainly are playing our part in being a good citizen by having material grid-based operations which bring stability to the public power distribution networks, our passion comes from developing stranded energy sources and mining on-site.  We call this “wild mining.”  This is because it means that these mining operations are not captive or dependent on a third-party energy provider and are less likely to be subject to regulatory changes or taxes.  Additionally, these stranded energy sources typically have no viable means to reach consumers and our mining operations put this energy to practical use.

“Mining has many variables that could, in theory, become centralized, including geography, jurisdiction, energy sources, site sizes, mining pools, chip sources and system sources.

It is crucial that a safe level of diversity always be in place across all variables.”
